Building from repo generates an error message and fails.

Howdy,

I'm building GMP from the repo at https://gmplib.org/repo/gmp/
on a Fedora 42 system. 

When running the configure script I get error messages that I don't know how to deal with. Perhaps this is a bug?
 
Here are the messages:

configure.ac:2743: error: AC_REQUIRE(): cannot be used outside of an AC_DEFUN'd macro

autom4te: error: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1
aclocal: error: /usr/bin/autom4te failed with exit status: 1
autoreconf: error: aclocal failed with exit status: 1

Has anyone seen these messages? Could you tell me how to deal with them please?
