There is no portability destabilisation issues with proposed changes, since there is nowhere it could appear. But since you don't agree, it's not much could be done here.

And next time I'll use 'gmp-discuss' thread for such things.

I don't plan to work on this, and I am not sure that doing major work in
this area is worth the potential portability destabilisation.  (Please
use this list for bug reports and gmp-discuss for other subjects.)
