- The format for submitting bug reports requests writing a program with
which to reproduce errors. Since the error occurs during make check, I
have nothing to write. The error occurred over three ./configure -> make
attempts, each with a make check.

The part:

/bin/bash: line 5: 2993 Aborted ${dir}$tst

May have a different number in the place of "2993", but everything else
is consistent.

- I agree, hence, I did not install.

Possible hardware conflict? Would you like my system specifications?
This is a fresh install, perhaps I am missing an important package.
EDIT: is GMP well tested on Mint?

Thanks for your time,
Peter
