How to debug GMP in Mint?

Previously I have installed from sources after INSTALL description:
./configure
make
make check
sudo make install

But ./configure was automatic and not ask me about debug version, limb
size, nails bit etc
Can I set configuration to debug and make again ? Maybe I must edit
config.in?
