"Linux server" could *possibly* give a tiny speed advantage. "Linux
desktop" tend to have more things running in the background, using a
fraction of the CPU. It will also use some RAM that gmp can not use
unless it's paged out to disk. I doubt that you will really notice
much difference in practice though. This of course assuming that I
have guessed what you mean with linux desktop or linux server. I guess
you mean Ubuntu.
