Optimized GMP

The GMP web site future release section lists improved assembly support 
for AMD, Power, Itanium, etc.  Does that mean it's fair to say that GMP is 
optimized for Intel processors?  If GMP is the fastest bignum library on 
the planet, what does "Optimized GMP" mean?
