That's a rather puzzling (to me) thing to say.
Do you mean to imply that, whilst generic C is *not* good enough for 64-bit
non-windows operating systems, it ought to be good enough for 64-bit windows
?
Or do you mean that generic C ought to be good enough for any (and all)
64-bit systems ?
If you meant the latter, then I wonder why the GMP developers even bothered
with assembler routines in the first place. (Or is the assembler code only
really useful for 32-bit systems ?)
