compiling GMP under Mac OS

you apply the patch at

http://fsmath.mathematik.uni-dortmund.de/~mabshoff/patches/gmp-4.2.1-static-IntelMac.patch

I was done by Alex Martelli, I just got it from the archives of the
mailing list. If you have a core Duo check out the work done by Jason
Martin at

http://www.math.jmu.edu/~martin/

Non of those two patches are official, so in case you have problems you
shouldn't complain on the gmp mailing list ;). We use the code and haven't
found any problems yet.
