Thanks for the patch. I tried it out and amazingly it worked. However, I had 
problems applying the patch (I did it by hand then):

    gmp-4.1.2> patch -p0 < longlong.diff 
    patch -p0 < longlong.diff 
    patching file longlong.h
    Hunk #1 FAILED at 715.
    1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file longlong.h.rej
