The Swox board of directors today decided to release future
versions of GMP under a new type of Free License, the Swox Gauged
Public License (SGPL).

The new license means that source code will no longer be provided
to users. The GMP sources are really very complex, and most
users don't read them anyway, says Jarl-Bong Rundtörn, Swox's
Director of Public Relations.

Future GMP versions will be available for the following
platforms: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT,
Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

The initial list price for running the new GMP will be
approximately $100 per 10e15 word operations. This means that a
million digits of Pi can be computed for as little as $1.50, if
the best known algorithms are being used. The Swox Gauged Public
License allows a flexible set of payment options.
