Recent changes

I reorganised and streamlined the way we fall back from fooC_*_ip1 to
fooC_* and from fooC_* for foo_*.  This caused some syntax issues in
tests/devel/try.c, now fixed.

The GCC compile farm recently added a SPARC T5 system.  Its existing
assembly code was what triggered the above changes.  It also triggered
some serious linker problems with certain relocs, which I botched around
by making PIC the default for asm code.  We still have a failing test
case, though (see
https://gmplib.org/devel/tm/gmp/check/failure/gcc202.fsffrance.org-stat:64.txt).
I have not debugged it yet, and might not be able to do it for a week or
so.
