  "Apple compilers" are actually based on LLVM clang. 

Indeed.  Plus a bunch of bugs.

  By this you'll simply prevent large projects, like HomeBrew, to build
  GMP, together with all those many projects based on GMP (like GCC, but
  many other too). Not good.

Providing a broken library is worse.
