Indeed. I suspect that is expected to be setup by libtool magic, with
which I'm not that familiar. If you have an enviroment variables
affecting runtime linking (e.g., LD_LIBRARY_PATH), try unsetting them.

And you forgot to say which operating system you are running on. Please
see the bug reporting section of the manual.
