I think this has been reported before, but we see test failures when
building gmp-5.0.1 on aix5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 6.1 and 7.1 with xlc. The
failures are similar, and we see slightly fewer of them with -O0 -g.
Tried with --host=none-imb-aix5.3 --disable-shared also to avoid the
asm, but no luck.
You seem to have lots of problems with GMP, indeed!
It does pass all its tests with gcc, but we'd really like to be able to
use the native compiler.
At least something works, good!
We also see failures on hpux10.20 with HP cc, btw.
Oh no, more problems!
With such massive failures, the first thing you should check is that
you've got the real 5.0.1 tar file. Please see the official GMP web
site for checksums.
The next thing to check is that you're not building in some way that
fools the GMP cnfigure system. Have you read the manual's installation
instructions?
We test every night, and tested every night for 5.0.1 and 4.3.2, to make
sure these systems and GMP worked. I re-tested now, after your GMP
trouble with all AIX versions and xlc. I tested just on 6.1, and things
work flawlessly.
If you follow the manual's installation instructions, if your gmp 5.0.1
tar file is correct, and you still get failures on so many systems,
please read http://gmplib.org/manual/Reporting-Bugs.html and report this
as described therein. We will do our best to find out why things fail
massively for you.
