GPM building problem on a sparc station with SunOS

Dear All,
 
I am in need of installing (and using) GMP on my mainframe, but I 
apparently failed to build it properly.
 
The version I am trying to install is the last one: 4.2.4.
 
You will find below the results of "make check". 9 tests are tried, all 
failed!
 
I did not used any particular option for building it. Simply 
"./configure" and "make".
 
The compiler is gcc, and its version is 3.3.2 (Thread model: posix)
 
"uname --a" gives "SunOS 5.9 Generic_118558-39 sun4u sparc 
SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R"
 
"./config.guess" returns me "ultrasparc3-sun-solaris2.9"
 
"./configfsf.guess" returns me "sparc-sun-solaris2.9"
 
A compress version of config.log is attached to this mail.
 
I am a bit surprised that I cannot build GMP on sparc station with a 
SunOS running on it.
 
Can someone help me (and I am not a guru in system administration..) ?
