FAIL: reuse

I had a single test failure on Mac OSX. My main interest is in  
getting gfortran to build so I don't know much about gmp, but I'm  
happy to provide more info if it's useful. My system is a fairly  
standard and up-to-date powerpc.

problem: running make check
