crash in config.guess on Power Mac G5 under Mac OS X 10.4.6

I cannot interpret that data, I am afraid.

In what sense shiuld the configure script be silent?  I'd say
that any autoconf generated configure is really verbose, like it
or not.  But that's perhaps not what you mean?

What does config.guess print?
